True Range Of Towers

The yard planner tower ranges and also the tower ranges you get when you point your mouse to a tower is also not accurate. The tower ranges in Backyard Monsters isn't that accurate due to how the game was designed. The range of towers differs horizontally and vertically. Today, we will show what the true tower ranges are.

Yard gives us access to his experiments on tower ranges.
True range is simply what I call the range at which a tower actually starts shooting a target, as opposed to the range it has displayed in the yard planner (which I call theoretical range). While there isn't a huge difference between true range and theoretical range, it is useful for knowing how to path monsters so that they actually start taking damage sooner, and if your design depends on a tower being able to shoot a monster near the edge of it's range.
Lets say that, for a moment, that the space of your yard has an invisible diamond-shaped grid. On this gird, lets say that all of the lines from the north-west border to the south-east border (and vice-versa) are on the x axis, and that all of the lines from the south-west border to the north-east border (and vice-versa) are on the y axis. Here is a visual representation of what I mean:

While this isn't likely how the game mechanics actually work, it is crucial for understanding and explaining this experiment.Things are made more complicated by the diamond shape (rather than a square) as I can't simply say that the range is facing horizontally or vertically; I need two diagonal lines each covering two borders of the yard, and thus I created the x and y axis to demonstrate what I mean. If this is seeming rather complicated, don't worry, things become easier to understand from here on in, and if you still don't understand then don't worry too much about it; as I said, true range is not essential to a good base design, and plays a relatively small role in how people design bases.
Anyway, after several experiments, I have collected the approximate true range for each tower (again, excluding the aerial defense tower), as shown here:

The blue circle represents the true range, while the red circle represents the theoretical range. It is noteworthy that both the theoretical and true range for each of these towers was done for the maximum level of that tower (10 for snipes and cannons, 6 for everything else).Th range of the champion cage is 40 blocks (too big to fit properly on a pic). Thanks to QuarterTheVillain for allowing me to use his yard for the experiments.
