Bolt

" Bolt is fast as lightning and can run ahead of your other monsters to munch on buildings with its razor sharp teeth. "

As the name suggests, Bolt is a fast moving monster. It's also your first looter monster. Like other looter monsters they loot 20% more than normal monsters. Bolt is also the monster with lowest hp in the whole game making it the most easily killed monster in the game.

Yard Planner 2 - What Would it Look Like

PoklerZeon, Gives us a sneak peak on what the Yard Planner 2 Would look like.
It's time for the YP2 to hit the shelves, but what exactly will you be working with?

Backyard Monsters Officially Goes Mobile!

Set to release this summer. The development for the mobile/tablet version of Backyard Monsters has started 6 months ago. Will be available on iOS and Android devices.

Quick Ultrakit Reinforcing Technique

Ultrakits are PATH perfect in nature. Large Empires doesn't have enough time to redesign their Ultrakits. Most of them thinks that Ultrakits are just plain hard to take down. Not knowing the basic Ultrakit design is a piece of cake for a Pro Attacker.  With this information, you will be able to redesign your ultrakits in not more than 2 minutes. You will be able to defend your ADT's from the basic Eye-ra Bomb attacks.

Fink

" Found deep inside Amazonia, Fink's chemo-receptors makes its attacks deadly accurate. "

One of the highest DPS monsters. Ideal for finishing off a base with no towers left. Your 2nd anything monster. Just like Pokeys but has bigger damage although it's still really a sitting duck for booby traps. It's a monster I regularly used for main base attacking if I don't have enough Magma.

Octo-ooze

" The slimy octo-ooze soaks up fire power like a sponge so other monsters can wreak havoc. "
All hail Octo-ooze, your first tower monster in Backyard Monsters. Has low damage but has high health. Popular due to the fact its always use as the preferred tower monster in lower levels. At higher levels it still has uses for your army especially in the World Map. Octo-oozes are the preferred tower monsters against outpost especially with Fomor support it can easily destroy Regular kits and Mega kits in a snap.

Pokey

" Like a swarm of ants, a roaming pack of Pokeys can devour a grown cow in less than five minutes. "
The first monster and the only monster that you don't need to unlock in the monster locker. It has no abilities but is your first line of defense when you were a new player. In higher levels they server the purpose of baiting Gorgo via Pokey Bombs and also baiting eye-ras in bunkers since their cheap and fast to make you can make a swarm of Pokeys in a few minutes.

Balthazar

" Nocturnal by nature, Balthazar thrives in the dark caverns of Inferno. Its wings give it the ability to swoop in on ususpecting enemies to land deadly attacks. "
The only monster above ground or inferno that targets bunkered monsters and champion. With an attack damage that triples when attacking it's favorite targets. And also the only semi-flying and melee monster in the game. It swoops to it's target making it the fasted monster in the game that deals tremendous damage.

Balthazar Observations

We will talk about Balthazar the only semi-flying and melee inferno monster. Also has unique favorite targets with a lot of things you may take into consideration before you make your next base.

Let's get started:
1. It would swoop down to attack a monster, will take down the champ and the monsters inside bunkers first and it deals 3x its attacks to them.
2. Right after killing all monsters it will look for the nearest building and will attack anything.

BYM System Requirements

This is something interesting. Backyard Monsters actually has system requirements like any other Kixeye game. If you ever submit a bug report you should have noticed a link to the game's system requirements. So here's the system specs that you need to have to, at least properly play BYM.

Yard Planner 2 - What To Expect

It's coming and it's coming fast! The YP2 announced by CM V2 (In the forums), BYM FB Page and also the BYM twitter page just a few days ago, will not only be better than our current one, but it will have a LOT of neat functions that a lot of you have been begging for! Let's get started:

BYM Update 2012-05-25 New Take Over Costs

The update has arrived and it brings us the new take over costs but still no sign of the new yard planner. Your first outpost will cost you only 250,000  per resource only and will increase by  250,000  per resource every time you capture an outpost. So basically if your gonna capture your 4th outpost then you can just simply multiply    250,000  x 4 to get your take-over cost which is only 1,000,000 per resource.

Yard Planner v2 Finally Arriving?

Yes,  the Yard Planner the single most awesome thing on BYM that differentiates it from clones (like Edgeworld). And what do you know it will have a v2 which is the most requested by the players. A new revamped yard planner that makes making you base so much easier. And with all that hype there's no way Kixeye won't make a new version. Fomor one of the best champions of the game. One of the first 3 Champions to be released. And the only flying champion in the game. We will explore the wonders of this great flying beast from understanding it's AI and how much it is truly valuable to your army.

Korath

Moloch's favourite pet had gone on a rampage in search of Putty. And the most exclusive champion to date and was only accessible in the Monster Madness event. Equipped with 3 stunning abilities not found in any other champion and with a touch of awesome stats. With Fists of Doom which gives splash damage, burn which dealing damage overtime and Breath of Fire that enables Korath users to attack air with Korath.

BYM Update 2012-05-11 New Take-Over Costs, New Worker Graphic and New Inferno RG Graphics

In Today's update Inferno resource gatherers got an update on their graphics. Probably the best graphics for buildings I've seen on BYM. But take note graphics it's not the only thing that makes games awesome. And David Scott has also started the plan for a better world map. Where no "Huge Empires" shall rule the world. With the new take-over costs new players gets a better chance than the old 10m per reso cap which we used last time. More on the Take Over cost change below.
And also a sad update to the game.

Creature Carnage: An Inside Look

So I woke up this morning and thought to myself that the low level players will be able to do the Creature Carnage event today. So I remembered I have a Kongregate account with low level backyard monsters game in it. Lucky for me the Kongregate version has been updated to and I can do the event there. As I opened my BYM I got the Creature Carnage pop-up(image from the left). Now I'm gonna give you the overview of the whole event. With images of the mighty Brukkarg Bases. And to the lower players, this event is the only chance you'll get to unlock Vorg the healer.
